With a banded system, phasing does not affect which carrier can be used in relation to the charge tube. As an example, a six shot 60-degree charge tube must be used with a 6 shot 60-degree scalloped carrier, where a 6 shot 180-degree charge tube cannot be used. The previously mentioned charge tubes are interchangeable, with a six banded carrier exponentially increasing the flexibility and inventory of the system.
Orienting charge tubes is also much simpler in a banded carrier versus a scalloped carrier.
The entire PHIRE perforating line uses an automated assembled detonator stick that is auto wired, tested, and ready to be installed in the gun sub upon assembly eliminating the possibility of human error wiring and arming of the gun. By eliminating the need to wire each gun, the PHIRE detonator also allows the operator to greatly reduce gun assembly times between stages.
